Behind the Whisk

I’m Megan, the heart, hands, and frosting-covered apron behind The Velvet Whisk Bakery, and I’m so glad you’re here! My baking journey began when my oldest daughter asked me to make her birthday cake. At the time, I didn’t know much about baking, but I gave it my best and quickly fell in love with the process. Baking runs deep in my family. My grandma, mom, and other relatives have always been amazing bakers, and I’m proud to carry on that tradition in my own way.

What started as a single birthday cake has grown into a passion for creating custom desserts for life’s celebrations. I love working closely with clients to bring their ideas to life, whether it’s for a wedding, birthday, baby shower, or another special occasion. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of creating cakes for a wide range of celebrations across Eastern North Carolina, from intimate gatherings to larger milestone events.

I believe great desserts should taste just as good as they look, which is why every cake and dessert is made from scratch using thoughtfully chosen ingredients and careful attention to detail from start to finish.

As a military spouse who has called Eastern North Carolina home for more than a decade, I’m honored to serve the greater Jacksonville community. When I’m not in the kitchen, you can usually find me spending time with my kids, getting lost in a good book, or training for the next JOSC race.
